ITE College West (ITE CW) (Formerly known as ITE West Network) is a division of the Institute of Technical Education. In 2010, a single campus was built in the Choa Chu Kang and replaced its five smaller network campuses as part of ITE's "One ITE System, Three Colleges" plan. The field of focus of College West is Precision Engineering, Automotive Technology and Chemical Process Technology.
History
The heritage of ITE College West dates back to 1929 when the government established the Precision Engineering Institute (PEI), the early roots of the former ITE Balestier at that time. Sometime in 1979, the PEI together with the statutory boards of Adult Education Board (AEB) and the Industrial Training Board (ITB), merged to become the Vocational and Industrial Training Board (VITB). The function of VITB at that time was to promote and develop vocational training and becoming the sole national authority in related issues.[1]
Assuming the roles and functions of the former VITB, ITE was established as a post-secondary institution in 1992 to better improve the employability of vocational trainees. A 10-year physical development master plan was set up with the building of ITE Headquarters, Dover and Balestier campuses.[2]
Following the opening of ITE Bukit Batok institute in 2000; under the ITE 2000 Plan, the five network campuses of Dover, Balestier, Bukit Batok and Clementi were regrouped as the ITE West Network while the rest were grouped under the ITE East Network.
In 2004, with the ITE Regional Campus still under construction, Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister of Education at that time, unveiled the "One ITE System, Three Colleges" structure in which a new framework for ITE to better manage its resources and campuses. Subsequently, the networks of ITE East and West were renamed College Central and College West respectively.

New campus at Choa Chu Kang
In July 2010, the new 9.54-hectare mega-campus opened, operating four schools - the School of Business and Services, School of Hospitality, School of Engineering and School of Info-Comm Technology. At this time, several of the network campuses were closed and the courses were transferred to the campus. It was officially opened on 18 April 2011 by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.[3]

Campus
Built at a cost of $260 million,[4] the campus features an open "borderless" concept. Retail facilities such as the formerly Shop N Save Supermarket[5] ends and merged with Giant are open to the public.
